As we explained in our latest announcement, the first official tournament on Board Game Arena will soon begin. 64 players from all around the world will fight over the internet to win a qualification for the World Championship of Krosmaster Arena! Find out all the rule related to this event below.
Step 1: Registration
Registration will take place on the Toornament website. To enter the event, you require both an account on Toornament and one on Board Game Arena.
Warning! For organization purposes, both of your accounts need to have the same name. Remember this when you’re creating them!
Registration will begin on March 21st at 5:00 PM (Paris time). Only 64 contestants will be allowed in the tournament. First come, first served: make sure to be there on time!
(Note: in order to give everyone a fair chance at qualifying for the World Championship, players already qualified for the event are invited to let other contestants try their chance in this tournament.)
Step 2: format
The tournament will begin on March 27th at 5:00 PM (Paris time) and will be split into two parts.
During the first part of the tournament, players will be sorted in groups of 4 and will fight against the other players from their group in a Swiss round. Each contestant will have to play 3 games during this step. At the end of it, the first two players of each group will be qualified for the next part (32 players in total).
In the second part of the tournament, players will compete in a direct elimination bracket: one loss and you’re out! Starting with the quarter finals (top 8), the bracket will be doubled with a loser bracket, offering to defeated players another shot at the title of champion.
All characters available on BGA are legal, with the exception of the following which are banned: Julith, Grougalorasalar, Khan Karkass and Dragon Pig.
For all your questions and assistance needs, please contact us at boardgames@ankama.com . It’s the fastest to communicate with us in this context.
Step 3: creating a game
All games played in a single winning round. Players can switch team between two rounds.
You have a maximum of 3 days (72h) to play your game, starting when your match has been officially announced. Don’t hesitate to get in contact with your opponent on BGA to schedule your play time together. If one of the two players has not given any sign of life during this period of this, they will lose the game.
One of the two contestants must create a new table on BGA with the following settings:
- Game speed: Fast Turn-based (24 moves per day) (*)
- ELO rating: Off
- Team selection: Simultaneous
- Map: Bonta II oriented in the "classic" way
Then, simply invite your opponent by using their nickname and start the game!
(*) If both players agree and are available at the same time, you may decide to use the Real time setting instead. Make sure to discuss this before starting to play.
Once the game is complete, please report it directly on Toornament; we recommend taking a screenshot of the final results in case there’s a need to proving them. Don’t hesitate to contact us if there’s a hiccup at this stage.
If a bug prevents you from completing the game (character stuck on one cell, game locked, etc.), then please contact us. We will give permission to start the game again and increase your alloted time accordingly.
Step 4: rewards
Players entering the tournament will earn points for the online ladder (separate from the current QT ladder) depending on their final ranking:
- Participation: 2 points
- Qualified following the group phase: 5 points
- Top 16: 10 points
- Top 8: 17 points
